Midi-Pyrenees includes 8 Departments with diverse landscapes and relief, ranging from high mountains along the French-Spanish border, medium altitude mountains, limestone “causses” and narrow valleys in southern Aveyron and central Lot, rolling hills in Gascony and Lauragais, plateaux near the Pyrenees and the Massif Central and plains in the lower valleys of the Ariege, Tarn and Garonne rivers.
