With 45,348 km², Midi-Pyrenees is the largest region in France - bigger than Denmark or the Netherlands. In the south, it includes part of the Pyrenees Mountains and borders Spain. In the north-east, it includes part of the Massif Central. The boundaries open toward the Aquitaine region and the Atlantic to the west, and toward the Mediterranean to the east.
